Ingredient Feature ~ Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate - aka SLSa

This is one of our plant or nature-based surfactants. We use this in several of our products like our Sugar Whipped soap, Face Cleansers & coming soon our Lush Body Wash.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLES), and our personal choice - Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSa) are all ingredients that sound and look similar... but they are, in fact, completely different. SLS, as well as its close relative SLES, are esters of sulfuric acid. Both are known skin irritants. Other companies use SLS & SLES because they are cheaper man-made alternatives (synthetic). Cheap is not always better… as many people out there have reactions to the SLS/SLES which are present in many beauty and skincare products.

All of the SLSs are surfactants (or surface-active agents). And they are used in many different products. Surfactants may act as detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers, foaming agents, and dispersants. Aka – the “Bubble Makers”.
